Due to extrordinary atmospheric conditions during the sunspot activity of 1969 radio and television signals travelled over unusually long distances.
The 3 pictures immediately above were received on the Baird 701 Colour TV in Whitstable,Kent, U.K. from Sweden , Holland , and Germany respectively.

"Before the days of satellite TV and the digital revolution,working as a service engineer for Radio Rentals at that time I knew where all the colour TVs were !!!
now one would be hard pushed to find a black and white TV in regular use , well, apart from those in collectors hands , see previous page,and the old Bush."
