"RADIO-MEMORIES"
EKCO Model A22 Philco 'peoples set' Although our small museum of some 500 radio's-gramophones- 405 T.V's and a multitude of smaller items is no more ( closed late 1995 ),we still have a small personal collection with a quantity of components and circuits, and are still keen to support the salvage and restoration of Wireless equipment which may, sadly,be destined for the local 'dump' or abandoned to decay in a loft or cellar somewhere.
If you have of any type of 'Valve' equipment ",E.G. ( Radios - Amplifiers - Pre-50's 405 line TV's ) you may wish to dispose of..... , please let us know at,

The selection we have chosen to show here would represent but a small part of a serious collectors archive, but to us personally they are some of the collectors 'favourites'.
But representing the best known makes of the 1930's to 1960's, are in alphabetical order, and not necessarily by preference...
Alba - Bush - Cossor - Decca - Defiant - Ekco - Ferguson - Ferranti - G.E.C. - HMV - Kolster-Brandes - McMichael - Marconi - Murphy - Philco - Philips - Pilot - Pye - R.G.D. - Regentone - Sobell - Ultra.
Philips 462A. Masteradio

Murphy SAD 49L Wartime Civilian Receiver Not to be forgotten are the 'non accredited dealers' makes, these radio receivers made by big name companies were sold outside the Main Dealerships, to smaller (or larger!) dealers who dealt through wholesalers and not direct with the set makers.
Invicta radio (PYE) - Stella (Philips) - Berec (Ever-Ready)
Also of course, the numerous other 'mains' and 'battery' table top/portable radio manufacturers.
Ace - Champion - Defiant (Co-op) - Ever-Ready - Goblin - Master radio - Noble - Pilot - Portadyne - Roberts - Vidor

TV also has its part to play in the collectors world , but now the 405 line system no longer transmits in the UK a special device is needed ( systems convertor ). To enable pictures to be shown on any restored and working 405 line black & white TV receiver this equipment has to change all the signal information from the new standard to the old system ( quite a complicated business ) but it can be done , see the BVWS site for more information.

To appreciate more the enormous interest in vintage wireless collecting and restoration, there are a number of books giving a much wider source of information that can be presented on this web site.
