From the 1900's to the 1950' or there abouts many seaside towns and places of interest sold these items, often with the town crest or motto on a 'transfer' to remind visitors of a memorable day out or an enjoyable holiday.
At the time such pieces would have been just a 'shilling' or 'half a crown'
( 5 to 12.5 new-pence ). Now of course as with many other nostalgic memorobilia,
they have become collectors items, and can command considerably more than their original value. |
